Quality of Life in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Adults

Our research team is working on validating and standardizing a new PROMIS-Deaf profile. This is a self-report measure that assesses the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of adults who are deaf or hard of hearing.

PROMIS-Deaf profile includes items and scales that evaluate symptoms, concerns, and issues that are relevant to deaf and hard of hearing adults’ experiences. This measure can be taken in English or ASL.

About 650 adults signers and nonsigners are invited to take this survey in either English or ASL.  Each participant who completes the survey will get a gift card. The survey will take less than 1 hour to finish. This study has been approved by the Institutional Review Board at the Rochester Institute of Technology and University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

If you are interested in taking the PROMIS-Deaf survey in ASL, please fill out the form here. A research staff will contact you soon.
